Fall Gold Rush

The nuance of honey simple syrup plus a good aged whiskey equates to more than sum of its parts in the Fall Gold Rush. The addition of ‘loud’ sage stands up to the complex character of this riff on a classic whiskey sour.

DIFFICULTY: MODERATE
TIME: 3 MIN + 5 MIN FOR HONEY SYRUP
GLASSWARE: LOWBALL

RECIPE:

  • 2 oz Far North Spirits Bødalen Bourbon

  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

  • 1 oz Honey-Sage Syrup *

INSTRUCTIONS:

Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice. Shake hard; strain into a Lowball glass with a large rock of fresh ice. Garnish with a sage leaf.

HONEY-SAGE SYRUP:

  • 4 oz honey

  • 1 oz water

  • 1 oz fresh sage leaves

Heat honey and water in a saucepan over medium heat until honey dissolves. Remove from heat; add sage leaves, and let rest for 10 minutes. Strain; use right away or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
