Marketplace Daiquiri

Sweet melons are a classic summer treat, and a classic summer cocktail ingredient. This recipe adds another flavor layer — umami — with a bit of salt and heat.

GLASSWARE: LOWBALL

RECIPE:

  • 2 oz Far North Spirits Ålander Rum

  • 1 oz Cantaloupe Juice
    (or a 1 ½” Cube of Cantaloupe)

  • 2 Slices of Jalapeño

  • ¾ oz Fresh Lime Juice

  • ¾ oz Simple Syrup *

  • Pinch of Salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

Lightly muddle cantaloupe cube (if using). Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin with ice. Shake hard; strain into a Lowball glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a third jalapeño slice.

SIMPLE SYRUP:

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 cup water

Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat, then cool. Use right away or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
